Avril Lavigne: The Best Damn Thing - by Steven
|
The record begins with the highly addicive first single, Girlfriend. Then moves on to a song everyone should listen to after a breakup, titled "I Can Do Better"
The album keeps the songs on the preppy cheerleader side, up until track 5...."When Your gone" The song is about being away from the person you love. The song gives us a glimpse of her matured vocals right until the beautiful piano leading the song to its end.
After track 5 the album goes into cheerleader mode once again, until track 8......"Innocence" The song showcases why Lavigne is a singer. Anyone that doubts her singing talent needs to listen to "Innocence" to be proven wrong. Then down the drain with the maturity, because "I dont have to try" has got to be one of the most brattty, poppy, bubble gum, rock songs to ever been made. The song starts off with a semi-rap by Avril, then moves in with the electric gutairs.
The album tones itself down, with "One Of Those Girls" and "Contagious" and its topped off with a cherry, known as the radio smash "Keep Holding On"
The album gets 4/5 stars, because its just so damn fun to listen to! Its got a bit of everything, love songs, hate songs, pop songs and rock songs. This album was created for summer, and every song could be a single.
