Its, a bird? Its a plane? Wrong. "Its Britney B****".
As we all know Britney Spears is one of the biggest pop stars on earth and has been accused of being the ultimate root of superficiality. She's a money making machine, and face it; if it's Britney, it will sell.
Somehow the fans see beyond her drug abuse and her shaving off all her hair, because they still lined up to buy her new album. Wanna know why? Because it’s not as bad as everyone though it would be, and may be her best effort yet. Ignore the title "Blackout", because even though she may have suffered many of them, sit back with me, and try to take this serious.
The first sound to grace our ears is "It’s Britney B****". Isn’t that just wonderful? Cue in the club beat and sexual lyrics, and we've got the opening track "Gimme More"; somehow singing about the media and provocative dancing. It's repetitive and just nothing new.
Up next, "Piece of Me", and NO, this song was not made on some cheap computer recording program it just sounds that way.
With the help of some talented writers, Britney is able to sing about her complicated life. Partying in Vegas can really run a person down.
She complains about the media, and how they want a piece of her, because we all know Britney stopped wearing underwear for the fans, not the media attention.
"Radar" has a very catchy beat, which may be what saves it from the title of crap.
"Break The Ice" begins with "It’s been a while, I shouldn't have kept you waiting, but I’m here now". Praise the lord, is she finally here and ready to deliver? Seems so, because with the electro beat and the great auto tuned voice, this track doesn't come off as half bad. It's a club banger, and is sure to be played on radio for every drop it has.
"Heaven on Earth" Takes a slight turn around. Even though through the song she starts naming every god damn part of the human body, it can’t help but reflect to an 80's disco song. It's enjoyable, and may be played on every valentines day for the rest of our lives. So if you don’t like it, learn to.
"Get Naked". What to say about this song? It comes off as a something "Timbaland" would have made. The highlight of the song is Britney singing "I’m Crazy as a ****** ******". Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery!
"Freakshow" is yet another song about sex, and giving people a Freak show. It's a rip off of "Toxic". Boring.
Many people have favored "Toy Soldier", I just cant agree. Yes it’s catchy with its army style dream beat, but the vocals come off as over produced, and the chorus it’s just annoying!
"Hot as Ice" is just a filler. It's nothing different. She declares "I’m cold as fire baby, hot as ice, if you've ever been to heaven this is twice as nice".
Then comes in the romantic guitar, in "Ooh Ooh Baby". Again with the way to sexual lyrics. Her repeating "baby, baby, baby, baby" drives you to the point of pressing the skip button.
One more club hit, "Perfect Lover", it’s got a very interesting sound, and if you look past the sex on a beat you'll find the essence of a love song.
"Why Should I be sad" lacks in all areas; itss boring, and about her marriage that failed. All I can say is: Karma's a b****.
Overall it's not bad, I mean she's done a lot worse, but I suppose it's not hard to make a good pop album with the best producers on each song. Don’t complain. Imagine the horror if she did this thing herself.
Rating for Britney Spears "Blackout"- 2.5/5
Verdict: Most of the album will make you want to blackout.
