Paramore: Brand New Eyes
Review by Chrissy
|
You could also say that they've gone through a change, even if the music hasn't changed that much. They're still the same but the difference from "All we know is falling" and "Riot!" is, that they are grown-ups now.
Their third album "Brand New Eyes" was released on Tuesday, September 25th on the label "FueledbyRamen".
"Careful"
The opening track "Careful" starts with a quiet guitar riff and turns into a good intro with loud drums, reminds me a bit of the intros to "Riot!" ("For a Pessimist, I'm pretty optimistic") and "All we know is falling" ("All we know").
"Ignorance"
This song is the first single of Brand New Eyes and probably one of the most offensive songs they ever did with statements, such as "I guess you can't accept that the change is good."
"Playing God"
"Playing God" is a song about someone who's judging people, behaves like he hasn't done anything wrong yet and thinks he's holy.
"Brick by Boring Brick"
This song has a nice melody and stays in your hand for a long time with an easy line for all of you who aren't good at keeping things in your mind ("Ba Da Ba, Ba Da Ba Ba Da")
"Turn it off"
It's hard to find the right words to describe "Turn it off" - You just have to listen to it. It makes you sad or it makes you happy. Here's the main chorus to give you a preview:
"And the worst part is, before it gets any better, we're heading for a cliff and in the free fall I will realize, I'm better off when I hit the bottom."
"The only exception"
‘The Only Exception’ is the most beautiful song on the whole album and the only "real" love song.
This song is mostly played on the guitar and goes with beautiful lyrics - "... I promised I'd never sing of love, if it does not exist, but darling, you are the only exception..."
"Feeling Sorry"
This song is a bit similar to "Ignorance" - both songs have good guitar riffs and hard lyrics for Example: "There's no need to apologize, I've got no time for feeling sorry."
"Looking up"
"Looking up" could also have been a song on "Riot!" and you wouldn't even notice it. It's really a song, where I have to click "PLAY NEXT SONG" because I don't like to listen to it anymore. It's a good song but I don't have to listen to the whole song.
"Where the Lines overlap"
Finally, a good happy song! "No one is as lucky as us, we're not at the end but we already won". Awesome.
"Misguided Ghosts"
An acoustic song with 2 guitars. How great! It's great to listen to it when you want to relax or if there is a time when you don't feel so happy.
"All I wanted"
This should definitely be a single. One of the best songs they've ever recorded. I don't think Hayley ever screamed soo good like she did on "All I wanted was you".
"Bonus Track: "Decode"
Nothing much to say about this great song, most people already know that Bonus Track from the hit movie "Twilight" starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
