Sixteen-year-old Christine Evans returns with her sophomore album ‘Push’, featuring twelve fantastic new songs from the girl who is a true songwriting talent. The collection of songs on the album are insightful, uplifting and thought provoking.
Highlights on the album include the single Push, a song about a difficult and potentially dead end relationship. ‘I’m sorry that you feel like you do. Don’t pull me in, don’t pull me in. Oh well I hope I’m not a burden on you, I won’t give in, so don’t pull me in.’
Believe is a beautiful and sad ballad that you can’t help but sing along with. ’Didn’t you know, why couldn’t you see? I thought you’d be waiting there for me’
Give it up is a personal favorite of Christine’s. She told Portrait Magazine recently: “The song talks about materialism and questions the importance of the things our culture values. . . something I feel quite strongly about.”
Show me the Way is a searching slow song that anyone could relate to “Cause we all know pain and we all know grief”. Definitely one of my favorite tracks on the album. ”So show me the way. I am tired of running backwards in this empty space”
Don’t Leave is the song that tugs at your heartstrings. It speaks of loneliness, grief and leaving. ”Don’t lie, I’m not stupid. Don’t cry, you don’t deserve this. Don’t leave. Don’t leave yourself without me with you.”
All in all, ‘Push’ is a musical triumph that sets Christine apart from the large number of teen artists on the market today. Her music has true depth and beauty and is definitely worth checking out!
