Natasha Bedingfield: Unwritten - by Joelle
Natasha Bedingfield is an artist that is one of a kind. With vocals sounding like a cross between Pink and Nelly Furtado, she climbs that charts. Her songs are fun, catchy, and from the heart. She is the sister of British singer Daniel Bedingfield, who sings “I don’t wanna run away.” Talent definitely runs in the family. Natasha has one hit after the other. Girls all over the globe are able to relate to her.
These Words (I Love You, I Love You): This is probably the song on the album that will get stuck in your head for days. The song comes from her heart. It’s about writing a song and working on her music career. “Trying to find the magic. Trying to write a classic. Don’t you know, don’t you know, don’t you know? Waste-bin full of paper. Clever rhymes, see you later”
Single: This is the song about being proud to be single. It is fun just hanging out with the girls and not having to deal with a guy. Being independent can be fun. “This is my current single status. My declaration of independence. There's no way I'm tradin' places. Right now a star's in the ascendant.”
Unwritten: Another positive track from Tasha. Being beautiful and writing about being happy about who you are. Feeling like you have to get the words out about yourself. “Feel the rain on your skin. No one else can feel it for you, only you can let it in. No one else, no one else can speak the words on your lips. Drench yourself in words unspoken. Live your life with arms wide open. Today is where your book begins. The rest is still unwritten”
Silent Movie: A song about lies and her man not being up to par. He’s not talking to her anymore and it feels like a silent movie. The tune is great. “In the silent movie there's no talking. You're just an actor, so break into my story. Take it over. Paint me with colour”
Stumble: The chorus of this song is so pretty. It’s about meeting the right guy. It’s such a good thing. “Anyway, you like me yeah you know it. You're so transparent, how you stumble 'round those words so well. You like me there i said it. Don't need a dictionary helping me 'cause I can spell.”
Peace of me: This is about how life sucked before he came into her life. It’s a kind of rock n roll ballad. “Oh, you found the peace of me. It was missing; it was broken. You put soul into it. Oh, you found the whole of me. I was empty, now I'm better. All my peace is back together.”
If you’re gonna: Life is beautiful. If you are going to do something, you better go all out and put all your heart and soul in it. “If you're gonna jump, then jump far, fly like a sky diver. If you're gonna be a singer, then u better be a rockstar. If you're gonna be a driver, then u better drive a race car. Cause I'm looking for a guard dog, not buying a Chihuahua.” Drop me in the middle: This is pure hip hop. Featuring one of the hip hop stars of the UK, Bizare. Tasha wants to change the world. “Drop me in the middle so I can make a ripple effect. Upon the ocean ill be the moon that turns the tide. Drop me in the middle so I can make a ripple. A domino effect.”
We’re all mad: Another song with a catchy tune. It’s another one about being yourself, and how everyone is different. “Because, we're all mad in our own way. Colours fade the grey away. Different people all the same. Each reveals the meaning. We're all mad in our own way. Fill the sky with different shades. Read the story on each page. Each reveals the meaning.”
I Bruise Easily: One of my favorites. This is a song about being fragile from so many crappy past relationships. “I bruise easily, so be gentle when u handle me. There’s a mark you leave, like a love heart carved on a tree. I bruise easily. Cant scratch the surface without moving me underneath.”
The one that got away: Another favorite of mine. It’s about finding a good guy and trying not to let him get away. “I need a hook so you won't be the one that got away. I need a look that stuns you makes you want to stay. Don't want to speak in case it comes out wrong. Don't want to blink cause in that second you could be gone. I need a twist to help me turn, turn this story around. I need a bridge to cross this dangerous ground. Meet me in the middle like I want you to. I gotta find your heart to shoot my arrow through.”
Size matters: When you first read the title, you think of something that could mean something else. But when she sings the song, she explains how she needs a guy who has a big….heart. “Size matters (size matters), and not how you think. I’m talking bout your heart, and what you do with it. The more seeds you plant, More flowers will grow. So… Big up the love ‘till it overflows.”
Wild Horses: This song is beautiful. My favorite on the album. It’s about being free, and wanting a life and love that is carefree. “All I want is the wind in my hair. To face the fear but, not feel scared.”
