Neutral Milk Hotel's 90s album, appropriately titled The Aeroplane Over The Sea, contains some of the most unique lyrics I have ever seen out of my ginormous music collection. The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1, begins with some beyond appealing guitar cords, and even more appealing lyrics, about a troubled home. Part 2&3 of this trilogy seems to be a spiritual realization of sorts. The star of the album, In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, holds so much beauty/power to the lyrics, with great instrumental reflecting that. The softness of Oh Comely, is breath taking. The most unique track, Two-Headed Boy, seems to be about sexual anxiety, but who can tell for sure? Neutral Milk Hotel's lyrics are so drenched with hidden meaning, I doubt we'll all ever know exactly what was running through their minds...Maybe you'll have better luck uncovering the mysteries?
For SURE check out: King Of Carrot Flowers Pt 1; Holland 1945; Oh Comely
Skip: Fool (There is already one instrumental only track on the album, and Fool seems to set it off)
