The Submarines: Honeysuckle Weeks - Review by Kelly
The Submarines' album, Honeysuckle Weeks, is chock full of pop-indie love lessons. Honeysuckle Weeks gives you a look at how history and love repeats itself. Track 8 on the album, "Xavia", is a good example of this rich knowledge. Band members John Dragonetti and Blake Hazard are musicians as well as lovers. This might contribute to their powerful, mellow, and airy lyrics. The two artists seem to be the offspring of past Romeo and Juliet's, with romance brimming lyrics practically running through their veins. When listening to "You, Me, and Bourgeoisie", memories of the 3G iPhone commercial will come to mind upon the first couple keyboard strikes you hear. Yup, The Submarines have been featured in one of the highly creative and acclaimed Apple brand series of commercials. Their song "Swimming Pool" is also a nice gem, highlighting love's infinite effect through the good and the bad. Their music is very much a work of art, with their souls clearly showing in each and every song.
