It's another Summer for the Sisterhood; full of heartbreak and growing up and I'm loving it!

In the longest book in the series (nearly 100 pages more then the first) the girls are beginning their 16th summer:

  • Bridget, still scarred from her previous summer, heads to Alabama under a false name to visit her estranged grandmother (on her mothers side).
  • While trying to have the courage to fall headfirst into love with Kastos, Lena finds out a secret about her mother that changes their relationship.
  • Carmen is trying to deal with her mothers new found relationship and is horrified when her mother wears the pants on a date.
  • Tibby gets a scolership to a summer film program at a nearby college and learns a little more about true friends.

Though a great book a somehow felt that 'Second Summer of the Sisterhood' lacked the edge of the first book. The four stories are great (though one is truly heartbreaking), but at least some lack the depth of the first book.

It took me awhile to really get into this book. I read it over the course of a number of weeks.

Definitely still worth reading as it is a great book and a must read for anyone who loved the first.
