Bridget, Tibby, Carmen and Lena are 'The septembers', four best friends who've known each other since their pregnant mothers did an arobics class for mothers due in the month of September some 15 years ago. This, their 15th summer, is the first time the girls have been seperated for such a long period of time. Before parting they discover a pair of jeans at a thrifstore that magically fit all four of them dispite their different sizes and heights. Over the summer the girls share the pants and share their stories and ultimately the pants keep them together and give them strength to deal with the obstacles ahead of them.
Lena is visiting her grandparents in Greece and while there she meets the handsome Kastos
Bridget is attending soccer camp in Mexico and sets her sights on the handsome (and older) assistant coach, Eric.
Tibby is making a documentary film about the people who work at her local Wallmans, during the process she meets a young girl named Tibby who teaches her a whole different outlook.
Carmen is visiting her father but is horrified to discover he is engaged and living with his fiance and two soon-to-be stepchildren.
The hit film 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' was of course based on this book which has become a top selling and much loved book to teenage girls everywhere. Ann Brashares creates four characters we can love and relate to and sets up four amazing stories of heartbreak, love and growing up.
An amazing book that is definitely worth checking out!
