Now a major motion picture from Twentieth Century Fox, X-Men 3; The Last Stand is back again, but this time as a novelization of the film.
After a few years, Jean Grey has risen after presuming to be dead, but she is no longer who she used to be. The conscious Jean, whose powers were always under control is now gone. The dormant side of her, a personality, otherwise known as The Phoenix has risen again in this woman. The Phoenix is a purely instinctual creature that’s filled with desire, joy and rage. She has even killed the man she has loved, and her mentor that has helped her throughout her years of being a mutant, and is now destroying everything…because she can.
The humans have created a weapon for themselves; a lethal weapon against the mutant antibodies, what they call a ‘cure’ for mutants. To give mutants a choice; to retain their godlike abilities but be alienated by society, or surrender and become human. However, its invention may trigger a struggle that destroys every living thing on earth.
Now, Magneto and the group that he had recruited known as The Brotherhood declare a war against humanity and its ‘cure’, things are simply disastrous. And when The Phoenix joins The Brotherhood, even the best military in the world cannot stop them. Homo sapiens is now doomed.
But there is hope, for the X-Men, a bunch of mutants who only plan on uniting mutants and humans, have decided to help the homo sapiens despite not liking the idea of the ‘cure’ and the idea of taking down someone they called ‘a friend’. They are the only ones who must truly brace for this battle against Magneto and The Brotherhood, for they alone are powerful enough to determine the outcome…
Will the X-Men be able to take The Brotherhood down? How will they take down The Phoenix?
Although this book strays from the original comics, I find its storyline very refreshing and interesting. Its plot is amazing and it has wonderful descriptions inside. I would recommend this book to everyone, even the rabid X-Men fans who follow the comics closely because this book is simply a blast.
