Another Cinderella Story Reviews
Review by Kat

Mary has floated through life unnoticed. A talented dancer she spends most of her life cleaning up for the washed up pop star who took her in after her mother’s death. When she dances with the guy of her dreams, pop star Joey Parker at a costume ball, she must slip away before midnight before her adopted mother notices her absence. Joey is left with one clue to her identity; the Zuma she left behind.

I was quite disappointed with this film. While Selena Gomez was 100% adorable the obvious age gap between her and Drew Fuller was a little creepy. She looked 12 throughout most of the film while he looked closer to his thirties. There are some cute modern twists for the Cinderella plot points – an MP3 player in place of a glass slipper but the rest of the Cinderella story seemed to disappear in the “:Dancing with the Stars” meets High School Musical plotline. The dancing was fantastic but the evil stepsisters and stepmother were irritating and unrealistically stupid. Judging by comments I’ve read online from tweenagers, all the details that bugged me were enjoyed by the tweens so don’t just take my word for it.

The chemistry between Drew Seely and Selena Gomez is completely nonexistent. The movie failed to deliver the true Prince Charming and Cinderella aspects of the film. Gomez portrayed the "Cinderella" in a way that almost devastates all lovers of the fairy tale, while it is a job better done than Seely's performance of prince charming. The mp3 player thing was fun, as was the search for Cinderella, so props for that and of course, props to the main character in the film which was dancing and was the most superb thing on the film. Unfortunately, the movie failed to deliver a true Cinderella story and I really don't wonder why the movie was made-for-dvd.

Selena Gomez had been doing a great job in Wizards of Waverly Place, and I thought that she would deliver the same performance in this movie. However, I soon realized that she was not a good choice for the role as Mary. To me, Selena seemed like "Cinderella with an attitude". The movie was very predictable and, aside from the dancing, was lacking in originality.

The film was not as good as I had expected. I felt like Mary and Joey didn't have much chemistry. It also felt weird to see that they clicked only because of the dance. They need to have something more in common. It doesn't seem realistic to see Joey calling Mary "the one" after he heard the song they were dancing to at the ball playing.

I understand most people's point of view that some of it was stupid and some was cute. But, I love this movie the same reason I love the Bratz Movie. It was sucky, but perfect to make fun of. Although, Mary (Selena Gomez), Drew SEELY, and tammy were great and the two main ones had THE best dance moves at some points! WOW Factor: 6.5/10.

Yet another Cinderella story, that's what I thought when I saw the DVD in the store. I bought it because I like Selena Gomez, but I have to say this version of cinderella is really cool. It has refreshing dances and cool music, which spiced up the movie. Of course the whole "evil sisters", "evil stepmom", "no parents" is still there, and of course there is a happy ending, but you will definitely enjoy it. It's not like the other cinderella movies. You will definitely want to dance after watching it. There are so many fun dances, and the songs in the movie rock as well. So get ready for a musical cinderella!.
