Around the Bend
Review by: Kat
Jason lives (Josh Lucas) with his grandfather, Henry (Michael Caine), and seven-year-old son, his life is rather unusual to say the least. While Jason strives to live a normal live as a banker his Grandfather constantly contemplates ideas for his funeral and his nurse Glenne watches horror films -which she finds relaxing- into the wee hours of the night. When his father, Turner (Christopher Walken), turns up after a long absence things are rather tense; then Henry dies leaving his 'tribe' strict instructions on how to carry out his funeral, instructions that lead to a roadtrip that dredges up the past and involves a whole lot of KFC.
Around the bend is a true to life tail that tugs on your emotions. It clearly depicts the lasting damage in families when skeletons are pushed into closets or swept under rugs. The story has it's humorous moments and its truly zany moments.
The cast are all do excellant jobs in their numerous roles. Young newcomer Jonah Bobo is especially adoreable.
Around the Bend is a fulfilling movie going experience and a must see.
