August Rush
Review by: Noelle D

Rating: PG for some thematic elements, mild violence and language.

Imagine being able to hear music everywhere you went; cars zooming by, leaves brushing the ground, footsteps traveling. Well, it’s all music to Evan (Freddie Highmore), an eleven year old orphan boy who knows the only way to find his parents is to “follow the music”. Evan knows he’ll never be able to follow the music stuck in his orphanage, so he runs away from his orphanage to follow it. He leaves an ordinary boy, but as his journey unfolds, he learns that he’s anything but ordinary.

When Evan runs into the The Wizard (Robin Williams), a crazy, but gifted musician running a business off of homeless children musicians, he picks up his guitar and finds he can play it within minutes of touching it! But that’s not all, he can play any instrument you put in front of him!

Evan, once an ordinary orphan boy, is now a prodigy and his talent will catapult him into a world of music that will lead to his biggest dreams. His parents.

August Rush was a modern fairytale that had me laughing, crying, and dancing all at the same time. The story of Evan the orphan/musical prodigy gives hope to children (and adults) all over the world that they too can reach their dreams if they “follow the music”, or their hearts.

August Rush is a movie suitable for all ages that will have you leaving the cinema wanting more! Don’t hesitate to bring your friends and family to see August Rush, the most uplifting, dream inspiring movie of the year!
