I for one had high hopes for this movie, as the premise is something you don't see every day--a combination of several classic fairy tales and a reimagining of the famous brothers who wrote them down. I have to say I was disappointed. Although Matt Damon and Heath Ledger are reasonably good in their roles, the script itself is simply too all-over-the-place. It attempts to be a comedy, an adventure movie, a fantasy thriller, and a romance all at the same time. While some films can pull that off, this one ends up feeling hectic, confusing, and rather bland.
Visually, the movie is stunning, and there's no denying a few laughs here and there, but in the end the audience is left unsatisfied, and The Brothers Grimm is nowhere near the memorable, funny, creative adventure it tries so hard to be.
