It starts off with Mitchie, played by none other than Demi Lovato, in her bedroom. This girl wants nothing more then to spend her summer at the most prestigious and best musical camp ever. Camp Rock has been her dream and finally it has become a reality.
We shoot by a few scenes, and bam! We’re now at Camp Rock. The camera pans around the entire camp with all the students doing their own thing. The Camps “bad girl” as some would put it is Tess. She’s played by, Meaghan Martin. Tess is the stereotypical rich girl with a lot to prove. Her mom is a famous singer, and Tess uses the whole “better than you” attitude as a façade to cover up the fact that she’s lonely.
Now for the moment I bet every teenage girl, and their mom has been waiting for. The moment Joe Jonas or should I say, Shane Grey enters the shot. I can just hear the screams of every girl in the world just gushing over this boy. The directors said he could act, and they weren’t just being nice. Joe (Jonas) brings something to Shane that I think no other actor could have done. Shane is the typical rocker boy who let fame get to his head. Joe can portray that flawlessly because he himself is part of that scene, and knows what it can do to people if they’re not careful.
The Jonas Brothers are also in this movie. Nick plays “Nate” and Kevin plays “Jason”, They’re called “connect 3”, and perform one of Shane’s new songs called “play my music”. It had everyone clapping and enjoying themselves. It had to be one of my favorite songs of the entire movie.
I hate to admit this, but I had a major fan girl moment during this next scene. Shane has just finished a new song and wants to share it with Mitchie. They’re by the lake and he serenades her with the song “I gotta find you”. I have never heard Joe Jonas sing more beautifully then in that moment. The lyrics, were just too good. His voice never ceases to amaze me. It is by far my favorite song of the entire movie.
The Final Jam at the conclusion of the film includes performances by Barron played by, Jordan Francis and Sander played by, Roshon Fegan perform a song called “Hasta La Vista” with Ella (Anna Maria) . It’s just a real Hip Hop/R&B track with funky dance moves and a crazy sound.
“Here I am” is a song performed by Peggy (Richards) and it pretty much stole the show. Her range and guitar skills made me speechless.

In the end, you can definitely smell a sequel brewing in the mix. Camp Rock comes to an end with the theme song and all around hit, titled “we rock” and oh yea, they sure do.
Camp Rock was a fun filled, easy on the ears teen movie. Out of all the musicals I’ve ever seen, I’d have to say, without question that Camp Rock has been my favorite. From the crazy dance moves, to the exceptionally good vocals, this movie is sure to succeed. Not only is it a musical, it also has an underlining message that everyone should receive. Always stay true to who you are, and never let anyone make you feel as if you’re not good enough.
A fun fact for fans to know is that the writer of Camp Rock, Julie Brown, also has a cameo role in the film. She plays Musical Director “Dee la Duke”. Her character is always so happy and full of energy.
This movie is “all that” and more. The Jonas Brothers say it best. “live like you’re at the bottom, even if you’re at the top”. I’m pretty sure Shane gets that now. It took him the whole summer at Camp Rock to do so, but in the end, it was worth it.
