December Boys
Review by: Kat
The December boys> are four young orphans growing up in an orphanage in the Australian outback in the fifties. Nicknamed for the fat that all four were born in December, they find in each other the family they’ve never had. The four are delighted when the opportunity to spend summer vacation at the seaside arises and they soon discover new dreams and experiences. When the youngest, Misty, learns that a local couple is planning to adopt one of them they discover new obstacles to their friendship, as well as a rivalry they’d never experienced.
December Boys is a great Australian film set in a truly stunning part of the country. The film has a lazy summer feel and you truly feel as if you’ve traveled back in time to the fifties. There are strong performances from the cast, including ‘Harry Potters’ Daniel Radcliffe in his first feature film outside the series – and putting in a convincing Australian accent too. Ultimately the story is touching and memorable.
Definitely a film worth checking out!
