Drumline
Review by: Kat

A fish-out-of-water story about a talented street drummer from Harlem who enrolls in a Southern university, expecting to lead its marching band's drumline to victory. He initially flounders in his new world, before realizing that it takes more than talent to reach the top.

Nickelodean alumni Nick Cannon makes his feature film debut in Drumline as an arrogant young drummer. He suceeds in his portrayal of Devon with fervor and great beats. The film is real and striking. For some reason it was classed as comedy which I really don't agree with, certainly it has comedica moments but at the center is a drama about being part of a team.

The marching bands in the film are absolutely awesome! The film doesn't cut away from the real drumming to simply tell a story and nothing else, instead the audience are also treated to some fantastic performances.

Overall a fun film with a great cast, great story and great performances.
