Eight Below
Review by: Kat

Eight Below is about a group of sled dogs and their trainer. While working in Antarctica with Winter approaching the dogs heroicly save a Scientist’s life and race him back to the base. Upon arrival it is revealed that a storm is coming and everyone must be evacuated instantly. However, there isn’t room on the plane and the dogs must be left behind. Their trainer intends to return on the next flight but is unable to secure a plane for his return. The dogs must survive the winter alone and without food.

Eight Below is an inspiring story set in beautiful Antarctica. It has all the appeal of an animal film with gorgeous dogs that each have their own personality and appeal. A warning however: Though there is a happy ending, not all the will survive. While we see the dogs attempts to survive we also witness the story of their trainer: (played by Paul Walker) as he desperately tries to find a way to return to Antarctica and learn the fate of ‘his family’. Paul Walker puts in a believable performance and I must say the Actor is growing on me more and more with his recent films.

There are some scary sequences in the film including a run in with a Sea Leopard that will make you jump. The film is kid friendly however and makes a great movie for the whole family to see.
