This movie is outrageously and boringly long. The movie is unfocused. It shows the signs of romantic comedy, family tragedy, and Southern family lifestyle. Orlando Bloom has nothing to bring to the table with his little "feel sorry for me" performance. The story brings in meaningless characters such as Drew's sister and mom. The only good thing about the film was Kristin Dunst who played her spontaneous to perfection. The scenes with the corpse of the dad was a little emotional for me because I have lost my dad.
To round it up, Elizabethtown is a good plotline hiding behind a terrible performance and script.
Review #2 - By Kat
Though it definitely had it's shortcomings I very much enjoyed this film. It's a humerous take on family and death with a quirky romance added to the mix. Generally I can't stand Orlando Bloom but he was bearable in this film. Kirsten Dunst, as she generally does, brought a life to the story that helped carry it through some of the slower scenes. The director could definitely have cut out a good 30 minutes of the film but I didn't mind the length too much. Elizabethtown is definitely worth checking out and is an enjoyable film that will have you laughing and perhaps even crying at points.
