Hotel For Dogs
Review by: Amanda

Emma Roberts and Jake T. Austin star as siblings who have been bounced around the foster care system so much that they now have a reputation as trouble makers. All Andi and Bruce want though is to belong to a real family. When keeping the stray dog they rescued proves to be a little too much trouble, they wind up chasing him into an old hotel, and the two of them, along with a few friends they make along the way, decide to use it to run a home for stray dogs who don’t have families of their own.

This movie is adorable. It’s so sweet and so entertaining at the same time. It’s really easy to empathize with the situation Andi and Bruce find themselves in. Emma is, as always, right at home as her character. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her play a part I didn’t believe her in. Jake, for his role, does a much better job here than he does on Wizards of Waverly Place. He really proves that he does have what it takes to make it in film. Not only do the two of them hit all the emotional components of the film, but they nail their comedic timing, and the rest of the film really comes to life. The script is great, and somehow believable, even though the plot seems so far fetched. The inventions the kids use to keep the dogs occupied while they’re away are ingenious as well. Now that I’ve found out the film is based on a book, I might be checking it out as well. Absolutely worth a couple hours of your time.
