Ice Age 2: The Meltdown
Review by: Laura O
Despite having seen Ice Age 2 on an airplane with a broken TV (I had to use the one in the empty seat next to me), I still found this movie to be quite enjoyable. Everybody Love Raymond's Ray Romano returns as Manny the Mammoth in the sequel to the surprise 2002 hit Ice Age in Ice Age 2: The Meltdown. Manny, Sid, and Diego are noticing something. It's growing warmer. The ice is melting. And in 3 days counting, all the ice is going to melt and the land they once walked on will flood. A 'boat' is perched a good 3 days walking away. Together, Manny, Sid and Diego must make their way to the boat before the ice melts.
Queen Latifah also joins the cast as Ellie, the mammoth who thinks she's a possom. Queen Latifah outshines the rest of the voice cast as Ellie. She gives Ellie a spunk that is hard to resist. Ray Romano is as good as ever as Manny the mammoth. The script is top notch, with notable lines that made me laugh so hard the entire plane was staring. With other sequels this summer that have had a hard time with being compared to an original (Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Mission: Impossible 3) Ice Age 2 lives up to the original in every way.
By the way, Scrat also returns as good as ever. He's still obsessed with nuts too!
