For high school senior Casey Carlyle, getting straight As has always been easy, and getting to Harvard has always been her dream. Her mother and her live in a small house on the edge of the town and have a great relationship. However, for Casey, fitting in has never been easy. She is constantly shunned by the ‘in’ crowd, especially the blond and pretty Gen Harwood.
Her physics teacher tells her about a physics scholarship he has signed her up for which will aid her on her way to Harvard. She has to come up with a personal and special science project. One day, Casey chances upon a figure ice-skating performance and decides to do a physics project based on skating.
Casey soon discovers that she has a talent in skating and slowly falls in love with the sport. She also becomes friends with Gen Harwood, who is actually a junior level skater. Jen’s mother, Tina Harwood puts a lot of pressure on Gen who would actually rather spend her Saturday sleeping in and hanging out with friends.
Casey sets off on a fun, life-changing adventure that she never expected that she would experience. Not only does she get a crash course into the world of competitive ice-skating and its sweat, tears and glamour involved, she also falls in love for the first time with Jen’s brother, Teddy. Determined to prove herself in this world filled with grace and poise, she perseveres and trains hard. But does she have what it takes to leave her old life behind and truly become an Ice Princess?
This movie was very well-received by the critics and I personally feel that this movie is amazing. The storyline and characters are well-sketched out, the costumes and sets breathtaking and the soundtrack is awesome. Ice Princess also teaches one to follow their hearts and do the best that they can in what they do best.
