Indiana Jones Reviews
Review by Kat:
Famed archaeologist/adventurer Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones is a part-time profefssor and mostly retired from his action packed days. Until a young man requests his assistance in rescuing an old friend and he becomes entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind a mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skull.
Indiana Jones is back, some twenty years later and as would be expected, the trilogy, the character, it’s all changed but there are definite great aspects of the trilogy that have remained.
Harrison Ford still creates a brilliant character that isn’t any less appealing for his age. The film takes advantage of numerous inside jokes regarding his age, the passing of time and the fact that things aren’t ‘as easy as they used to be’. Indy still engages in numerous breathtaking action sequences, whip snapping and snaking cringing.
Cate Blanchett makes an awesome villain that you can almost relate to at times. She beats the cold blooded, evil-just-for-the-sake-of-it character.
New character Mutt Williams, played by Shia Labeouf is a fantastic addition and one I hope to (and undoubtedly will) see in any future Indiana Jones projects. He gives as good as Indy in the action sequences and makes you smile a couple of times too.
I’ll admit some of the special effects in the film seem a little out of place and too CGI. I almost miss the archaic effects of the original films.
Overall, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a thrilling, summer blockbuster ride that you’re bound to enjoy. Try not to compare it to the originals and just enjoy the breathtaking ride.
