The Island Review:
By Kat
Dan Foreman (Quaid) seems to have it all. He is the head of ad sales for a major magazine. He has two wonderful daughters, 18-year-old Alex (Johanssen) and 16-year-old Jana (Zena Grey) and a loving wife (Marg Helgenberger). But with going so well for Dan, there is only room for things to get worse. Dan learns that he is being demoted when his company experiences a corperate takeover. And his new boss is nearly half his age! Both Carter (Grace) and Dan are having at-home-crisiss'. Carter's wife of 7 months leaves him. Dan's daughter Alex decides to transfer to NYU to pursue her writing dreams. And a surprise announcement from his wife, she's pregnant. It's as if things couldn't get much worse, Carter and Alex start a love affair.
This is movie is absolutely hystarical! Dennis Quaid pulls off the character with perfection. Another of the excellent performances is played by Scarlett Johanssen as the vulnerable yet strong Alex.
Another strong point in the movie is the writing. The writing reminds me of the quick-witted TV show Gilmore Girls. One of my favorite lines is when Dan interrupts a phone conversation with Alex on the phone with her new boyfriend, "Hello this is Mr. Foreman. If you give my daughter an alcoholic beverage or a joint I will hunt you down and nueter you." It's absolutely hystarical!
An awesome film.
Other Reviews:
I thought this movie was however long, too long. This movie was pitiful to me. Terrible, drags on, boring, and if I can remember the ending since I tried to get the images of that movie out of my head, it was horrible also. I wouldn't even give this movie a star. Thats about all I have to say about this movie.
