Into the Wild
Review By: Kat

A young college graduate abandons his possessions, donates his life savings to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wildness. At one stage stating, ”The core of mans' spirit comes from new experiences.“ he sets out on his adventure and meets an array of characters that change and shape his life. Based on a true story.

Into the Wild has a sleepy, almost documentary style approach to film making which generally irritates me but for this film was a perfect fit. I got so engrossed in the story I barely noticed the more then two hour duration.

Star, Emile Hirsch gave an amazing performance that should have earned a few more award nominations. He lost 40 pounds for the film and used no stunt double - even when white water rafting and confronting dangerous wild animals.

The story was brilliant, the characters an appealing variety of people and the film made some great points about forgiveness, family and what one truly needs to be happy in this world. This is definitely a great film for young people as it makes you reassess what really matters in life as well as your goals at a time when you’re still molding them.

Must see!
