Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank) is a poor waitress with a dysfuncional family and can only find pleasure in boxing. She convinces the hardened trainer, Frankie Dunn (Clint Eastwood) to couch her so she can become a well-respected boxer. Frankie, who has his own troubles with his daughter warms to Maggie as they both share the same pain of loss. However, they will both face a 'match' that will test their will, courage and heart. This movie shows you the raw elements of determination and will certainly suck you in. Clint Eastwood (director) has done a brillant job not only as a director but as an actor. He touches on subjects that people can relate to and has filmed the movie with a great emotional depth. I'd give it 8.5 out of ten
