Miss Potter Review
Review by Kat

Miss Potter is a biopic about children's author Beatrix Potter who penned a number of stories including "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" which became the top selling children's books of all time. Her tale is that of an umarried woman of thirty struggling to make a name for herself as an author and artist in a world where woman are expected to marry and have children. When Beatrix finally succeeds in her dream of publication she also finds love, wealth and number of new adventures.

Miss Potter is a truly delightful film. Beatrix is a quirky and loveable characte. Her characters where truly real to her as is depicted in the delightful animations of Peter Rabbit and Gemima Puddleduck among others.

Renée Zellweger was entirely believable in the role, once again disgarding her American accent to adopt a British accent as in The Bridget Jones films. Though she has terrible hair throughout the film, you can't help but love her and be drawn to the character. She once again teams up with Down with Love costar Ewan McGregor who plays her romantic interest. The two have a great chemistry that comes across on screen.

Beatrix Potter was a great believer in preservation and brought a number of farms in the lake district to preserve them for later generations. The beauty of the British scenery is another draw for the film.

So while it isn't action packed and is a rather simple story; Miss Potter is charming in it's appeal and inspiration. Definitely worth seeing for lovers of the books!
