Monsters vs. Aliens
Review by: Melissa
Monsters vs Aliens is the latest creation from Dreamworks. Susan
(voiced by Reese Witherspoon) is getting ready to get married
when an element from outer space crashes outside the church,
infecting her and causing her to become 49.5 feet tall and
have super strength. She is captured and taken away to a sort
of jail where other "monsters" are kept. Once there, Susan
meets Dr. Cockroach (Hugh Laurie), The Missing Link (Will Arnett),
BOB (Seth Rogen) and a giant bug that
just makes annoying baby noises. None of the monsters have
been allowed out of their prison.
Until the day comes when aliens attack and after the President
(voiced by Stephen COlbert) tries to talk to them (a
hilarious scene) with no success, the monsters are called to
duty to save the day.
The movie is very simple with Susan learning that its not about
who or what other people decide you are, its who you choose
to become.
If you enjoy cartoons, you should enjoy this movie. Otherwise,
I thought it was a nice story but nothing too original or
exciting. Seth Rogen is hilarious as Bob though and his jokes
are worth going for. (I heard he adlibbed most of his lines
and if that's true, he's a good comedian). His lines were
easily the best of the movie.
