Mandie has been dreaming of getting the new video phone for her eighteenth birthday but her dream gift soon turns into a nightmare when it allows her overprotective father to keep an even tighter grip on his daughter. When the most popular guy at school asks her to a party there’s only one problem – Dad’s grounded her. With an excuse that she’s studying with friends, Mandie prepares for her date and avoids the sabotaging efforts of an evil classmate, all the while having to supply different video evidence to her father that she is in fact studying at her friend’s house – every half an hour.

Picture This was an unexpected delight. For a TV movie I was expecting a mediocre and sleepy plot but found myself quite entertained. I loved the situations Mandie and her friends found themselves in as they struggled to ‘punk’ her father and convince him they were home studying while they ran around the mall and avoided the evil Lisa. The cast’s performances were adequate and Ashley Tisdale was adorable.

A fun teenage romp and definitely worth checking out!
