Poseidon
Review by: Kat

On New Year's Eve, the luxury ocean liner, Poseidon, is overturned by a rogue tidal wave. While most survivors decide to wait to be rescued a small group set out to find their way into the deepest bowels of the ship, now at the top, their only means of escape.

Poseidon has been slammed by the critics to such a degree that I almost decided to not see it in theatre. Thankfully I did go and see it as I really enjoyed the film. Granted some of the characters could have done with a little more developement but I still was sad when two of them died (and truly shocked for one).

The film is a non stop action adventure. The Poseidon is more the just the setting it actually comes across as a character in itself. As the great ship dies it determines to crush, drown and fry it's passengars. The sheer scaled of some of the sets (which were real and not Computer Generated) is breathtaking.

The performances where convincing. Josh Lucas is a true star in the film playing a heroic card shark who heads the group.

If you're up for an $140 million dollar scale adventure then Poseidon is the film for you, it's worth seeing despite character floors and the occasional weak spot in the film. I enjoyed the experience.
