The Prince and Me

OK, this movie isn’t just one of my faves for no reason- the actors really brought out there character- Julia Stiles (Mona Lisa Smile) plays Paige, a college farmgirl living in Wisconsin who is determined that nothing get in the way of her becoming a doctor. But in one scene it shows her friend telling Paige that her friend’s going to get married, and you can tell Paige feels left out.
Enter Prince Edvard of Denmark (Luke Mably- 28 Days Later) hobbies: kissing girls, driving fast cars, and avoiding the media. Yeah. He’s that kinda guy. One day he’s had enough of the media, and decides to travel a bit, as he does this often. He sees a commercial for , “wild college girls in Wisconsin.”
He goes to Wisconsin under the name: Eddie, so he won’t attract the media. He meets Paige, and well, let’s say first meeting isn’t the charm. But as they get to know each other, they get closer and closer. Later, when Eddie still hasn’t told Paige he’s a Prince, the media comes and starts taking all these pictures of Eddie with Paige. They yell, “Prince Edvard! Prince Edvard!”
Paige demands the truth, and when she finds out he’s a prince and he didn’t tell her, she’s really mad- no, steamed that he didn’t tell her before. Eddie decides to leave and go back to Denmark, but Paige realizes she really loves him, and she shouldn’t let her chance slip away. She goes to Denmark, and they meet up.
At first it seems like nothing can get in the way of their love, but soon Paige is starting to face reality. Edvard is a prince, and will become a king. If Paige marries him, she’ll become Queen. Eddie seems to be ready for a queen like her, but the rest of Denmark is not- especially Eddie’s mother. And if Paige becomes Queen- what will happen to her dream of becoming a doctor? Paige is torn between love, and her lifelong dream.
I give the movie 8 stars out of 10. I’m a sucker for romance- what can I say?
