PS I love you Reviews

Review by Kat

Holly Kennedy isn’t dealing with the death of her husband Gerry but when she discovers that he has left a series of letters to help her deal with his death, she finds that he hasn’t truly left – at least not yet. Each letter ends with ‘PS I love you’ and with humor and fun they encourage Holly to leave her shell, reach for her dreams, see the world and finally to let him go and continue with her life.

I really was not a fan of the ‘PS I love you’ book. The plot was a great idea but there were all kind of frustrating writing floors and continuity problems that put me off. However, when I heard it was being adapted into a film with such a great cast I was excited to see it and expecting a film that surpassed the book, I wasn’t disappointed.

Though PS I love you is very much a cheesy chick flick it’s also a touching story that illustrates that love doesn’t end with death. The film weaves in humorous moments and scenes that easily balance out the tragedy in the plot. The cast are fantastic; I enjoyed seeing Hilary Swank play a character so different from her past roles and Gerard Butler was perfectly loveable and handsome as Gerry. And the gorgeous Irish scenery in parts of the film was a definite plus.

Want a teary but happy chick flick? See PS I love you.
