Raising Helen
Review by: Kat

Helen is a successful 20 something whose life consists of her work as a fashion agents assistant, parties and her family. But when her sister and her husband are killed in a tragic accident Helen finds herself left to raise their 3 children (adorable child star syblings Spencer and Abigailo Breslin and rising teen star Hayden Panattiere.) Helen finds her entire world turned upside down. Summed up by the line in the trailer "She must choose between the life she loves and the new loves of her life".

The film seemed to drag 20 minutes longer then it should have and some scene changes seemed to abrupt. The plot was a bit cheesy and predictable at time but definitely had some nice moments.

Kate Hudson wasn't as appealing as she was in 'How to lose a guy in ten days', but she did ok in the role.

The kids were adorable and definitely lifted the film at times. Perhaps the film would have done better if they'd all had more scenes.

A cute chick flick. Relatively entertaining.

Raising Helen is a fun movie with a lot of teenage concepts and plots. It's a pretty entertaining movie. If you love uptown life, make a visit to rent Raising Helen.

Helen Harris (Kate Hudson) is a fashion queen living in good-old Manhattan. She has everything any woman her age would ever want. She has a great job, a great apartment, and great money!!! Soon after her sister's birthday party, she and her husband are killed in a car crash, leaving behind 3 children Audrey (Hayden Panettiere), Henry (The Cat in the Hat's Spencer Breslin), and Sarah (Abigail Breslin). To Helen's sister Jenny's(School of Rock's Joan Cusack) disbelief, Helen is left to take care of their children. Helen moves, meets a guy, and most importantly, learns what is like to be a mother.

Overall, Raising Helen is a fun and entertaining film. Some issues include not enough time spent with Henry in the film and too much with Audrey, although Audrey's problems in the film are much deeper and more complex. But it is a fun and entertaining film and is great for uptown girls like Helen Harris!
