Red Eye follows the story of Lisa Reisert (Rachel McAdams Mean Girls, The Notebook), a twenty-something year old woman who has recently been to her grandmother's funeral. When her flight home to Miami is delayed, she meets a charming gentleman, Jackson (Cillian Murphy). As they develop a mutual attraction towards each other, Lisa learns they are on the same flight and will be seatmates. As they grow closer, Lisa learns that Jackson is yearning to kill her father and his family, including her. Trapped at 30,000 feet above ground, Lisa must find a way to save her life, her father's, and the lives of others before Jackson completes his mission.
This movie is very short, an hour and twenty-five minutes! Rachel McAdams does a great job of playing this roll. And Cillian Murphy does an excellent job of portraying an angry killer. This movie will have you jumping out of your seat several times. When I came out, I was still breathing hard. There are many suspenseful shots.
Another thing I noticed was the score. While it's not haunting, it really puts a lot of action in the movie. The drum adds a lot of beat to it.
Expect suspense when you see this movie. Expect to jump out of your seat several times. And don't be surprised if you wet yourself!

Lisa Reisert isn't exactly enthusiastic about flying, but when it's necessary for her to take a late-night red eye flight home after her grandmother's funeral, she heads to the airport with all the determination she shows in other aspects of her life, such as in her job as manager of the elite Lux Atlantic hotel. Her fears are calmed a little when at the airport she meets Jackson Rippner, a charming and sympathetic gentleman. It seems a short flirtation is all their encounter will remain, until Lisa gets on the plane and discovers he's seated next to her on the flight.
It looks at first that "Red Eye" is all set to become a cute romantic comedy, but famed thriller director Wes Craven has other plans. It turns out that this is much more than just a pleasant coincidence...shortly into the flight, Rippner drops the facade and cooly informs Lisa that he is a hired assassin who has been watching her for some time now. He needs her help in a risky plot to assassinate an important government official. And if she refuses to cooperate? He has an armed "associate" waiting right outside her father's house. Trapped in a terrifying dilemma 30,000 feet in the air, Lisa is going to need every ounce of resourcefulness and determination she's got!
Filled with twists, snappy dialogue, several jump-in-your-seat moments, and creative uses for a pen and high heels, "Red Eye" is a highly satisfying, unpretentious popcorn movie made better by extremely good acting. Cillian Murphy is an ideal villian; that much is plain. He is well cast and very believable as a chilling, charismatic, dangerous assassin. Rachel McAdams also portrays her character perfectly, and the audience will find it very easy to identify with her plight and her actions. It's great to watch Lisa's transformation from a helpless damsel-in-distress to a very capable heroine. Despite a rather anticlimatic ending, this is a fun movie to watch, and it'll certainly make you think.
