The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 Reviews
Review by: Kelly

Now in their early 20s, the girls have now shared the magical one size fits all pants for four years. With Lena taking a summer class at the Rhode Island School of design, Tibby at NYU writing a screenplay, Bridget in Turkey for an archeological dig, and Carmen accepting an invitation to work backstage at a theater festival, the girls are yet again spending another summer apart.

But ah, things are always interesting for these girls.

Carmen suddenly finds herself with the lead role of the play, much to the satisfaction of the cute leading man, Ian, but much to the dismay of Julia- a seasoned but catty actress friend of Carmen's that desired the role casted to Carmen. Things get even more interesting as Ian seems to develop an interest in Carmen.

Tibby's summer seems planned out. She's working at a video store (and taking her attitude with her), and spending time with her boyfriend, Brian, from the previous film. But things get a tad more complicated when Tibby and Brian take it to the next level...

While Bridget is in Turkey, she is still grasping the shock of her previous find- a box full of letters from her grandmother, that had been hidden from her from many years. At the archeological dig, Bee's professor becomes a motherly figure to her, and Bridget learns an important lesson. At that, she is off to Alabama to dig up her own past, and her mother's.

Lena takes a figure drawing class and meets Leo, who happens to be...well, the figure. Leo and Lena develop a whirlwind relationship, and guess who shows up then? Kostos, her first love she met in Greece, three years prior. Lena is forced to decide whether A) she should follow her heart, or B) run away from the past memories of Kostos, then move onto something new...maybe even with Leo.

Through out the film, the girls seem to be stuck in a communication gap. They're so busy taking on new concepts, situations, and people to keep in touch with one another. The pants are rotated, but with weak and short letters. Carmen seems to be the only one concerned, and a quarel ensues. But that's when it happens. The news that the pants are lost, and they're lost in Greece none the less. The girls are once again united with the task of finding the pants.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, may have had a bit of a weak title (Why wasn't Forever in Blue used?), but the film is excellent. The second, third, and fourth books are combined quite well, with Bapi's funeral from the second, and Carmen's Mother's pregnancy/Bridget's visit to her grandmother from the third. The mixed plots brought together in a seamless way. We see the characters blossom as well as some of the actors. Amber Tamblyn's performance is flawless, surly, and her timing is delivered with perfection. We see a new side to America Ferrara, and Blake Lively continues her role of the bold bridget with ease. Alexis Bledel plays the shy Lena for the second time with the same superb cautiousness.

All in all, I give the film 3 1/2 stars out of five, and 7 out of ten for following the books so well.
