The Last Sin Eater
Review by Allie

Based on the best-selling book by Francine Rivers, this movie has a great message and is very surprising and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The movie takes place with Cadi Forbes living in an 1850’s Walsh Appalachian community. The Walsh have many creepy and somewhat odd rituals one including that of the Sin Eater.

The Sin Eater is a man chosen by the people and is shunned by the people. He only comes among the people when someone dies. He cries and shrieks over the passed person’s body, taking their sins and wrong doings away, so they are free to live guiltless in the afterlife. The people of the towns are forbidden to look at him or touch him, for it is said looking into his eyes is looking into the Devil’s own soul.

Feeling utterly guilty and being eaten inside by something she had done, Cadi seeks out the Sin Eater to ride her of her deed. Her quest causes many things to be uncovered, including a surprising mystery of the Sin Eater and how he was chosen.

This dramatic and endearing movie is a beautiful screen adaptation and a movie that everyone will enjoy.
