The Proposal
Review by: Amanda

Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) is one of the most cutthroat editors in New York. She finds her job on the line though when she faces deportation to her native Canada. Enter her assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) who she decides to blackmail into marrying her. In order to make the entire con appear legit, she has to meet his family, so the bulk of the movie takes place during his grandmother’s birthday weekend in Alaska.

Even though it’s incredibly easy to see just where this romantic comedy is going to end up, the movie is such a good time. There are bits and pieces of the story that you might not see coming, and those little dips in the story are more than enough to keep you watching. Bullock and Reynolds have great chemistry and great comedic timing. I love the conversations they have that consist of only rapid fire insults. Hysterically funny. The supporting cast is just as funny as the main cast. Betty White and Oscar Nunez in particular are fantastic.

This movie might not involve a lot of deep thought or any particularly fresh storylines, but it is something you will enjoy. It’s funny, sweet, sarcastic, and highly entertaining. An all around fun experience
