V for Vandetta

Review by Kat:

"Remember, remember, the fifth of November" - Set in a futuristic totilitarian Brittan, V for Vendetta is the story of a quiet young woman named Evy who is rescued from a bad situation by a masked hero named V. V eventually ignites a revolution when he detonates a London landmark and takes over government-controlled airwaves. Evie unwittingly finds herself caught up in the chaos that ensues and becomes a suspect. As she sets out to uncover the truth about V she learns things about herself. Will she emerge as an ally or an enemy to V's revolution?

Something about V for Vendetta never quite clicked for me. I watched the entire film in a state of detachment and was never completely drawn into the plot. The cinemography is great, the performances are fantastic (especially from Natalie Portman) and the story is... ok. Perhaps it's the character of V that I never liked. It truly is hard to relate to a character that is forever without a face.

The film has some gruesome fight sequences with a lot of blood splattering. This will be a plus for some and a negative for others. Some of the villains seem over the top with their evilness and a little hard to buy.

Maybe it's just me and you'll like the film but I don't personally recommend it.
