X Men 3: The Last Stand Reviews
|
I have watched every X-Men movie, and loved all of it. This one was no exception. It is a pity that it might be the last of the X-Men movies, as it is definitely my favorite among the Marvel comics movies.
The movie this time is, as many critics call it, good mutants vs bad mutants round three. Except this time, it is extremely large scale. Director Brett Ratner has pulled out all the stops and has injected all the wham-bang action that the last movie might have slightly lacked. A pharmaceutical company located on an island across the Golden Gate Bridge has developed an antibody to block out the X gene which all mutants have. This is the focal point of the movie, where all the conflicts arise from. Both sides of mutants dislike this idea of a ‘cure’, but the ‘bad’ mutants are all ready to do something about it.
The last movie ends with Jean Grey assumingly dead, but she is not, and returns as many know it, as The Dark Phoenix, an indestructible and incredible force. She is the only Class 5 mutant around, the most powerful one, and is able to destroy anything in her path.
I promise I will not spoil the movie for people, because this movie is truly jam-packed with plenty of twists to go around which was excellent for me. Some people might have heard rumors flitting around that some X-Men will die, which is true.
Overall, I loved this movie, with all its action, stellar cast, those fantastic mutant powers, and its extremely, unbelievably, unthinkable twists which leave you in suspense and deep thought. One of the must-see movies of the summer, especially if you are under 16/or dislike The Da Vinci code.
As a tip for everyone who might be planning to watch the movie in cinemas, do stay back after the movie until the credits as there is a ‘surprise’ ending.
Review #2 by Natalie
I will be truly heartbroken if 'The Last Stand' is the last in the series. The film is definitely one of the most appealing in the trilogy and is an very fulfilling filmgoing experience. The characters continue to develop into heroes we can relate to and appreciate and the villains continue getting well... villainous.
'Last Stand' is full of surprises from the very beginning to the final scene (past the credits) including the death of various main characters and the introduction of new ones. The added dimenion of the X-gene cure results in the equivelant of death for many of the characters.
Definitely a must see for comic book lovers and action loving moviegoers!
